This Acceptable Use Policy ("AUP") governs how you may use the ScanCompliant platform, website, and Clara AI Compliance Assistant. By using our Services, you agree to these rules. Violations may result in suspension or termination of your account.
1. Overview
ScanCompliant is a professional compliance technology platform. Our mission is to help legitimate businesses in regulated industries identify and reduce regulatory risk in their marketing content. This AUP is designed to ensure the platform is used responsibly and in a manner consistent with that mission.
This policy applies to all users — individual subscribers, team members, enterprise clients, and free trial users.
2. Permitted Uses
You may use ScanCompliant to:
- Scan marketing content (websites, documents, social media, images) that your organization owns or has authorization to review
- Review compliance findings and generate reports for internal use
- Consult Clara AI for compliance education, claim rewrites, and regulatory questions
- Export findings reports for internal review, regulatory documentation, or compliance audits
- Build and manage keyword libraries relevant to your industry and organization
- Share reports with team members, legal counsel, and compliance professionals within your organization
- Use findings to guide revisions to your marketing content before publication
3. Prohibited Uses
The following uses are strictly prohibited and will result in immediate account termination without refund.
3.1 Content Violations
- Submitting content you do not own or have explicit authorization to review (e.g., scanning a competitor's website without their permission for competitive intelligence purposes)
- Submitting content that contains malware, viruses, or malicious code
- Submitting content that depicts or promotes illegal activity
- Submitting another user's confidential proprietary content without authorization
3.2 Platform Abuse
- Using automated bots, scripts, or crawlers to access the platform beyond normal use patterns
- Attempting to reverse-engineer, decompile, or extract our claim-risk library, keyword databases, or AI models
- Scraping or bulk-extracting data from the platform for any purpose
- Attempting to exceed usage limits through artificial means (e.g., multiple trial accounts)
- Using the platform in any way that degrades performance for other users
3.3 Misuse of Findings
- Using scan results to certify your content as "compliant" without appropriate legal review
- Representing ScanCompliant scan results as legal opinions or regulatory clearances to customers, regulators, or trade partners
- Using the absence of flags to make compliance certifications in product labeling or advertising
- Using our platform to help draft content specifically designed to evade regulatory detection while maintaining non-compliant claims
3.4 Account Violations
- Sharing login credentials with individuals not covered by your subscription tier
- Creating multiple free trial accounts to extend trial access
- Impersonating another person, company, or ScanCompliant employee
- Providing false information when creating your account
3.5 Competitive Activity
- Using the platform to build a competing compliance software product
- Benchmarking or evaluating the platform for the purpose of replicating its features in a competing product
- Sharing access with employees of competing compliance software companies
4. Content Submission Rules
When submitting content for scanning, you represent and warrant that:
- You own the content or have explicit written authorization from the content owner to submit it for review
- Submitting the content does not violate any confidentiality agreements, non-disclosure agreements, or third-party rights
- You will not submit content containing personally identifiable information of third parties without their consent
- You will not submit content that you know to be illegal or that you intend to use for illegal purposes
We reserve the right to refuse to process content that violates these rules, applicable law, or our Terms of Service.
5. Clara AI Use Rules
Clara AI is designed to provide compliance education and guidance. When using Clara AI, you agree not to:
- Attempt to extract or reverse-engineer Clara AI's underlying training data, model weights, or system prompts
- Use Clara AI outputs as a substitute for qualified legal or regulatory professional advice
- Share Clara AI conversations publicly in a way that implies its outputs are official regulatory guidance
- Attempt to "jailbreak" or manipulate Clara AI into providing guidance that circumvents regulatory requirements
- Submit confidential trade secrets, proprietary formulations, or privileged legal communications to Clara AI
6. Security Rules
You agree not to:
- Probe, scan, or test the vulnerability of our systems without written authorization
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to any part of our platform, infrastructure, or other users' accounts
- Intercept or redirect communications between our platform and its users
- Introduce malicious software into our systems
- Conduct denial-of-service attacks against our platform
Any suspected security vulnerabilities should be reported responsibly to support@scancompliant.com. We maintain a responsible disclosure program and will not pursue legal action against good-faith security researchers who follow our disclosure guidelines.
7. Enforcement
We reserve the right to investigate suspected violations of this AUP. If we determine a violation has occurred, we may take the following actions at our sole discretion:
- Issue a warning and require remediation
- Temporarily suspend your account
- Permanently terminate your account without refund
- Report activity to law enforcement where required by law or where we believe criminal activity has occurred
- Pursue legal remedies for damages caused by the violation
We will make reasonable efforts to notify you before taking action, except where immediate action is required to protect the platform, other users, or third parties.
8. Reporting Violations
If you believe another user is violating this AUP or if you have concerns about content submitted to our platform, please report it to support@scancompliant.com. We take all reports seriously and will investigate promptly.
